    Felting

Needle felting is a technique whereby no fasteners (i.e. threads, glues etc.) are used. The wool is hand woven with  a special needle to create beautiful felt from fluffy balls of Merino Sheep wool.

Since I have added this craft to my portfolio, I have found it very therapeutic. The world is your oyster in what you can create with this craft and I am looking forward to exploring it to the full.

I would like to thank my very good friend Patricia for introducing me to this craft.

Needle Felting is a craft that I would highly recommend to anyone who has creative interests.  Even if you have never done anything crafty this might be the thing to become creative with.

If you have anything in particular that you would like made i.e. your family cat, dog, fish  etc, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Also you might have a wedding coming up and want something made for your hat, bag or shoes in a particular colour.  This is the perfect answer.

Needle Felting is an ideal craft for members of the Irish Country Women’s Association (ICA) and the Active Retirement Association (ARA) as well as many others as it can be a social activity (like knitting) and requires very little cost and no experience to get started.

Wet Felting is a technique where the wools are placed loosely together to form a picture. They are then soaked with soapy water (very hot) to bind the wools together (i.e. to make felt).

Rolling with a ribbed roller (see the photo opposite) for 10 to 15 minutes fuses the fibers to create your felt painting.

Usually, I finish off with some needle felting to give more definition to certain elements of the painting.
